Moose, a small town inside Grand Teton National Park along the Snake River, was homesteaded by the Dornan family in the 1900's and is the southern entrance to Grand Teton National Park. Moose is about 13 miles north of Jackson past Jackson Hole Airport, and is connected to Teton Village and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort by Moose-Wilson road, only open in the summer time. Also known as Highway 390, this scenic route spans 15 scenic miles with access to trailheads and great wildlife viewing areas.
Dornan's, a prominent establishment of Moose, once began as a vision as a guest ranch just about 100 years ago. Today, it is a full-service restaurant and bar, rental cabins, a chuckwagon, market and gift shop. Its rooftop deck is renowned for offering the park's greatest views of the Tetons after a long day of exploration, and has been a family owned business since its establishment.
