SUBLETTE COUNTY

Sublette County is located in Western Wyoming and its citizens like to boast that there is not one single stop light in the whole entire county. With a population of about 8,700+ it is made up of the towns of Bondurant, Boulder, Cora, Calpet, Daniel, Pinedale, Marbleton, and Big Piney.

It is a fantastic location for hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, and many other outdoor recreational activities as it is surrounded by three mountain ranges: the Wind Rivers, the Wyoming Range, and the Gros Ventre. Although tourism and oil and gas drilling are now crucial to the region's economy, cattle ranching was once the dominant sector in this region.

Sublette County is known historically for its significant contribution to the early 1800s fur trade era at the Green River and Horse Creek Junction, which lies near the county's center. For the mountain men, trappers, and Native Americans of that period, rendezvous was a time for trade and socializing. The Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale is devoted to preserving and educating people about how significant these historical occurrences were to the local community as well as how they affected the rest of the globe at the time. In Sublette County, some things have changed through the years, but the locals are still deeply rooted in their pioneering past.
